15th Christmas concert in Lucerna in Prague

This year – for the 15th time already – Centipede children from Czech Republic, Norway and Slovakia met at the Christmas concert in Lucerna in Prague. But let us start from the beginning…
Everything began with the morning festive service in the Military church of St. Jan Nepomucky. The main military chaplain Lieutenant Colonel Tomáš Holub reminded that not all the children in the world are lucky enough to live in peace. He thanked to all the Centipede children for their effort to ease the lives of their friend who need it so much.
At 3 p.m. the main program of the day – the Christmas concert – started. It was recorded by the Czech television and will be broadcasted on December 24, 2005 at noon. Mr. Petr Vacek was guiding through the whole afternoon. At first, the Centipede choir from Spálené Poříčí in the Czech Republic and Al in Norway sang. Their performance was very professional. The performance finished with a Czech Christmas carol, sung in Czech language, even by the children from Norway.
Everybody was really eager to see which star of the Czech music scene they will see and hear this year. And the anchorman announces: Gaba Al Dhaba – one of the stars of this year’s SuperStar. The atmosphere was equal to the final of the Czech SuperStar… The following performance by Iva Frühlingova was welcome with a huge applause.
And the time came to welcome the most important guest – the patron of the Centipede – General Stefka. Mr. Vacek interviewed him for a short while. The children learned about all the places where Centipede helps to the children and were very pleased hearing that the Army will go on cooperating with Centipede.
In between the girls’ choir from Bloomfield Hills Schools from Michigan, USA came to the stage. They sang beautiful Christmas carols. Especially nice was the Ukrainian one when the girls played the bells while singing. They handed over USD 500 to Mrs. Běla as their contribution to the Centipede account.
The atmosphere in the hall was wonderful. With a huge applause, Mrs. Bela is shown to the stage. She welcomed all and shortly reminded what Centipede achieved during its 15 years existence. The beautiful banquette that the children gave her was only a small symbolic present for all her work.

And what will follow next? The hall thunders when Mr. Vacek introduces the next guest – Petr Bende, another star of the Czech SuperStar. Petr sang couple of greatest hits from his last album. At the end of his performance, the signs with the number “15” appear all over the hall; the symbol of 15th anniversary of the Centipede.
Again, the choirs came to the floor and together sang the anthem of the movement – “Never Be Alone”. The whole hall sang with them, Mrs. Běla and General Štefka came to say good-bye as well…

See you all next year – we will be 16 by then…

In the evening, the meeting of the Centipede teachers and friends took place, without the children this time. Old friends were meeting again and had a lot of things to discuss. Mrs. Běla, General Štefka and main army chaplain Lt. Col. Tomas Holub held short speeches. The girls from Bloomfield Hills Schools sang carols again, this time in Czech. The applause war huge. Many respoected guest visited the meeting and all of them agreed on how important the work of Centipede is.
